Edna Earle Thompson Marshall ~ 1977
A new Quilt Trail in North Carolina ~ Rockingham County Quilt Trail at Riverbirch Vineyards (#18 on the map)
Our Barn Quilt dedication on Friday, March 25, 2016 honored Paul's mother, Edna Earle Thompson Marshall, on her birthday. Geemama's Double Wedding Ring Quilt is represented in our Barn Quilt, and her artistry and quilting skills are visible to each individual stitch she used. We love and appreciate each family member and friend that came to see us and honor our mother.
We've welcomed visitors from within our community and as far away as Florida who were able to experience our rich, agricultural heritage via these beautifully designed quilt squares, visible as you drive through the county. The trail was a collaboration of the Rockingham County Soil and Water Conservation District, Rockingham County Arts Council, Rockingham Tourism Development Authority, and the Piedmont Conservation Council, Inc and funded by the Department of Commerce. October 20: UNC-TV's North Carolina Weekend featured Rockingham County's ''Hayodan' in Mayodan and the Quilt Trail, as Rick Sullivan journeyed through our county's seasonal and year-round celebration of art. We look forward to seeing you soon.
